My wife, Becky, and I came to First Baptist in July of 2002 from our home state of West Virginia. We have been married for 30 years and have two grown daughters. Sarah, our oldest, is married and living in Louisiana with her husband and their four year old niece. Bethany is a Physician’s Assistant working with an orthopedic surgeon in West Virginia.

My wife and I met during our years at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. She is also a seminary graduate. From the beginning of our life together we have shared a dream to work together on a church staff. That dream was fulfilled when we came to Charlotte. I serve as the Sr. Pastor and she is the Minister of Worship and Children.

I began my ministry on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. I spent two years at the University of Mississippi and one year at the International Headquarters then in San Bernardino, California. Since that time I served churches in Kentucky and  West Virginia before coming to Charlotte. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA.

I enjoy reading and especially books by Clive Cussler, John Grisham and Vince Flynn. In the warm weather you can find me on the golf course, I can always find time to play nine. In the winter on Monday nights you can find me at the bowling alley with my team, “Robin’s Hoods.” I also enjoy computers and most things electronic. Becky and I look forward to vacations at the beach each summer.

My greatest joy in ministry is helping people find a life transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. My life has been enriched and my spiritual life deepened by the use of the Life Journal for my daily devotions and by my small group.

There is no other place I would rather be than here in Charlotte and I look forward each day to what God has in store for me.
