SAINTS ?
 Ephesians 1:1-14
 August 24, 1997

INTRODUCTION

a. Call my brother a "saint" story

b. Do you know any Saints?

c. How do you determine if someone is a Saint d. The Bible calls every person who puts their trust in Christ and believes a "Saint"

e. That's right ladies - your believing husband is a saint

f. In the NT we do not find Baptists or Methodists or Presbyterians or Lutherans or Catholics - There Christians are called Believers or Brethren or Disciples or Christians or Saints

g. In this the next to last of our series on "Your Church Home" I want us to look at the names God calls us in the church and what they mean to us - Next week I want to preach on "Being Baptist"

I. WHAT GOD DESIGNED

a. It is important to remember that God's design for the church is both Universal and Local

b. The world is larger than the Panhandle - at times I think we forget that

c. We cannot be so provincial in our thinking d. God's design was never for fussing and fighting within the church - because we disagree on some points does not mean we cease fellowship and ministry with each other

e. With this global and local understanding let's look at the names God uses of us

II. GOD NAMES US

a. There is something significant in the Names God uses of us

b. God is careful and deliberate in the Names He uses

c. God Calls Us

III. SAINTS ??

a. God knew us when he used these names of us

b. Many of us wonder when we will experience what these names mean

c. When you received Christ as Savior and Lord these things were true of you - maybe we need to revisit our commitment to Christ and then these names will come alive in us again

d. I read this this week - It illustrates today's sermon
