WEDNESDAY FAMILY NIGHT SUPPER

5:30 PM

Spaghetti, tossed salad, veggie, garlic bread, and cake.

Cost: $6 per adult, $1.50 per child (12 years and under) or $15 per family.

Please indicate the number of reservations next to “A” on your registration card.

 

  • CHECK YOUR CUPBOARDS - Popcorn tins are needed for Bible School .  These will become “batteries” for our Power Lab and will not be returned.  If you have one or two, please bring to the church office. 

     

  • FBC FAIR BOOTH MINISTRY – If you are interested in working at the booth for a 3-hour shift during the week of July 7-12, please mark on your registration card.

  • LADIES’ DAYS AT GULL LAKE – June 17-20 (four identical days).   Cost: $25.  Mark on your registration card if you are interested in attending.  Sign-up deadline to attend with the group from FBC is April 15.  This year’s theme for this annual event is “My grace is sufficient for you.”  Featured speakers are Elisa Morgan, CEO of MOPS International, Inc., Lee Ezell, humorist, and Cherie Adams, singer and former member of Avalon.

  • EATON COUNTY PRAYER BREAKFAST – On the National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 1, 7:00 a.m., at the Eaton Area Senior Center.   FBC’s Bill Lobsiger will speak.  Tickets are $6 in advance from the FBC office.

     

  • CHILD DEDICATION –  Sunday, May 18.  If you would like to have your child dedicated to the Lord indicate on your registration card.

  • HIRE A YOUTH – We have several FBC youth willing to work for you to earn money for the summer mission trip.  Contact Ryan Manning for more information.

  • ANNUAL WELCOME HOME TEA – Tuesday, May 13, 10:00 a.m., in the quad.  The FBC staff is looking forward to learning how all of our “snowbirds” have been doing and fill you in on what’s been happening at FBC.  You’ve been missed!

  • PRAYER FOR CHAD CHRISTIE:    Chad  is recovering from a very serious transplant surgery on Nov. 29 at Mayo Clinic.  You may be updated on his recovery by checking his website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/chadchristie

  • INVITATION: The church family is most warmly invited by the children of Clyde and Rosemary Swanson to participate in the joyous celebration of their parents’ Twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.  An open house reception will be held on Sunday, the 18th of May, 2008, from two until five o’clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church, Charlotte.

     

    SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS ARE EXPRESSED FOR:

    Leonard and Marie Gyles in the death of Leonard’s sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Thomas of Concord, Michigan.

    ELLI MATHEW RESIGNS

    Elli has served on our children's ministry staff for 3 years.   She is retiring at the end of June so she and Ric can enjoy retirement together.  While we will miss her gentle and caring leadership, we are excited about this new stage for them.   Resumes are now being accepted from those interested in this part-time position.  Job descriptions are available at the information desk in the lower lobby.  Submit resumes to Becky Crouch by May 30th.

·   KidzChoir has concluded for the year and will resume in September.

·   Also, don’t forget that Quest meets every Sunday morning at 9:45.  Ask your

   parents to plan the family schedule so that you can be here!

  • PLAN FOR SUMMER! - Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power is the theme for Vacation Bible School.  Mark June 16-20 on your calendar.  You can help and children from 4 years to those completing 7th grade can attend  

  • Camp Scholarship information is now available at the information desk.  Children and youth can earn up to $75 by completing memory work and being regular attendees.

  • CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES OPPORTUNITIES - There is currently an opportunity waiting for members who have been CAPPED and who have a love of children to be involved in teaching and helping in the twos and threes, and elementary Children’s Church during the 11 a.m. service.  These opportunities may be just the thing that the Lord has in mind for you to crisp up your communication skills with children.  And, who knows, you may find that the children simply bloom under your loving care and teaching.   • DISCOVERY CLASS - For children curious about baptism, the Lord’s Supper and what it means to be a Christian.  The class is for 3 Sundays, June 1, 8, and 15, at 9:45 a.m.  The format of the class has changed.  At least one parent must attend with each child.  There will be “homework” for the family to do together.  Please mark “E” on your registration card to indicate your interest.

YOUTH MINISTRIES
Grades 7th - 12th
 

 

¨YOUTH MEETING TONIGHT – 6:00 p.m.  Grades 7-12.  “The Mystery of the Heaven.”

 

¨ WEDNESDAY AT 6:30 PM – 6:11 (grades 7 & 8) “The 3rd and 4th Commandments"

¨CEDAR POINT TRIP – Wednesday, June 25.  Cost $55.   Leave around 6:00 a.m. and return around midnight. Group will travel by tour bus - seats are limited. Give check (made out to FBC) and a permission slip to Ryan Manning as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

 ¨PRINCE CASPIAN MOVIE - The second Narnia movie, Prince Caspian, opens on May 16, at the Eaton Theater.  Join us for opening night.   Buy one ticket for $5 and you can bring a friend for free! Sign up slips available by the youth room.    Everyone will need a permission slip to be transported to the theater. Leave at 6:30 p.m. and return around 10:00.

Women's Book Club
 
LADIES’ BOOK CLUB – Monday, May 5, 7 p.m., in the theatre room at FBC.  The group will discuss the book, “Into the Deep,” by Robert Rogers with and Stan Finger and view the movie, “Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas.” This is the last meeting until September.
